With the advent of cashless and contactless digital payment in India PM Narendra Modi is on a journey to transform lives in a major way by launching e-RUPI at 4:30 pm on the 2nd of August. This platform has been developed by the National Payments Corporation of India on its UPI platform. The collaborating partners are the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and National Health Authority. Our PM believes that this is a revolutionary initiative in the direction of ensuring a leak-proof delivery of the services.
What is e-RUPI?
As per the statements, e-RUPI is simply a QR code or SMS string-based e-voucher that is delivered to the mobile of the beneficiaries. All the users of this seamless one-time payment mechanism will be benefited in many ways including the fact that they would be able to redeem their voucher without a card, digital payments app or any internet banking access, at the service provider.
e-RUPI is said to connect the sponsors of the services with the beneficiaries and the service providers in an entirely digital manner. This would be done without any physical interface. This also ensures that the payment to the service provider is made only after the transaction is complete. E-RUPI is pre-paid in nature hence it assures that payments are done on time to the service provider without the involvement of any intermediary.
Some of the benefits of e-RUPI:
- Cashless and contactless digital payment.
- Connects service providers and beneficiaries digitally.
- Leak-proof delivery of a variety of welfare services.
- Delivering services under schemes like Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, fertiliser subsidies, Mother and Child welfare schemes etc.
- No physical interface.
